Mark & Bill in the Morning on Magic 99
99.1 FM KNYN Fort Bridger - Evanston

We'll get some more shots of Bill & I in "action," broadcasting from the second smallest radio studio in the country. Magic 99 (99.1 FM - KNYN) shares it's confines with KEVA (1240 AM simulcasting for the time being on 106.1 FM KOTB, too). Both are located at 568 Airport Road, which offers a great view from the office and deck; I only wish our studios shared that view...
Our morning show airs Monday through Friday from 7am to 10am. Although, when you consider that the 7 o'clock hour begins with world & national news, followed by Wyoming news, which is followed by Paul Harvey AND the 8 o'clock hour starts with world & national news and then Wyoming news and sports, we're actually on for only about 1.5 hours each day. There's been talk of extending the hours, (6 to 9am or 7 to 10am) but the jury is still out on that one. Okay, old news here... we're now going from 7am to 10 am

Our morning show music mix could be consider a "hot ac" or top 40, blended with some great jams from the 70s, 80's & 90s. Bill selects most of the tunes and does a great job. He'll always ask if there's anything I want to hear and usually I'll just tell him that I love the ditties he's picking. The guy's music knowledge is simply astounding, too. We take requests at 789-TALK (8255) or outside the local dialing area, reach us toll-free @ 1-800-233-9101. I mention this because the actual "city of license" is Fort Bridger, with Evanston as a secondary.
Under optimal conditions, we reach as far east as Rock Springs, Wyoming (100 miles) and can be heard as far northwest as Ogden and even Logan, Utah. I'll display a coverage map up the road.
Music programming on Magic 99 could be described as a bit schizoid. What? Allow me to elaborate....
The Mark & Bill Morning Show songs are pretty much interchangeable, Monday-Thursday. We do shoot for variety to temper the very nature of a "top 40" format.
The Midday Cafe with Michael J. is out newest programming addition to the Magic 99 line-up.
On our Forgotten Oldie Fridays, we focus on the hits from the 50s, 60s & 70s. Oldies - it's all relative, right?
From 6am to 5pm, most of what you'll hear outside of our show and the daily 3 to 5pm Mike on the Mic Show, (this cat will play ANYTHING) adult contempary selections, (a little on the lighter side of pop/rock) rule the airwaves.

From 5pm to 6am, the format is like our show, but with an enhanced urban sound - more dance-mix type selections, rap, hip-hop - true top 40 geared toward a younger audience. Couple the above with the daily Lunchtime 70's Show @ Noon with your host Michael J, Bill & Mark's Excellent Rock 'N' Roll Adventure, ( a classic rock request show Saturdays from 11am to 1pm most of the time - we have been bribed with food or _____ {Use your imagination} to stay an extra hour....) and lest we forget, the one and only Zach Coles and his Freak Show, (Saturday night from 10pm 'til Midnight - can't get enough of that "Slipknot..." -- ah, for the days of The Freak Show, as Zach's now "gettin' himself educated" in the Pacific Northwest) along with specialty programs on the weekends, and well, you get the picture.... or the sounds, as it were - a very eclectic mix, indeed, but fun!
Bill and I are looking to expand on our audience interaction, which has been limited to requests and people vying to win a dozen Daylight Donuts, (Thanks Main St. Deli!) (Thanks currently to Evanston's Pilot Travel Center!) on Wednesday or a Pizza Hut pizza on Friday, along with the occasional concert ticket or prize give-away. You'll be hearing more people phoning in, in the future.
Features which may or may not stay with us have included the celebrity birthday rundown, this day in history, this day in music history and daily horoscopes. The song parodies, comical bits and weird news items will more than likely stay.
Thanks for checking out this page which is sure to change and Magic 99 will have it's own web site in the near future for you to peruse, too. We want to know what you would like from one of your hometown radio stations, Magic 99. Fire an email our direction with suggestions, requests, whatever is on your mind to morningshow@magic99fm.net And,
Thanks for listening!
