Players not yet receiving votes, but may deserve recognition... Adam Davis: Wrestled Rulon Gardner in high school; went on to play football @ the University of Wyoming. Curtis Caldwell ('78): Great All-around athlete and an outstanding receiver. Roger Bruce ('65) Would later assist or head coach the Green River Wolves in football & basketball. Reputation as extremely tough hitter. Bob Elmer ('65): "Quarterback" in single-wing formation on that '64 team that never lost a game if I'm not mistaken... Played junior college football in Powell, Wyoming. Ryan Berger - Maybe the fastest back in school history... Wes Davis ('94): Outstanding football, basketball & track athlete @ EHS. Went on to play football and participate in track @ Weber State University. Donnie Moore ('65) Another integral member of the '64 team -would later assistant coach the Red Devils in football & wrestling. Junior Walton ('59): Team captain of '58 team. Reputation of being a good all-around football player. Later wrestled in college @ UW. Bart Stewart: Two-way starter, (as were many) and a threat from the tight end spot. Tony Roccaro ('73): Tough football player who could have played collegiatly, as legend has it... Joe Sisson ('99): All the tools to play at the next level, but chose to pursue bobsledding instead.... Feel free to add to this list. I will, as research time allows.... ---------- http://www.grouchymark.com

What about Mitch Martin and David Herrmann from the 2002 season. They were both standouts on the team. Martin on defense and Herrmann on offense. Not to mention they were both ranked in the top ten in their position.

I do remember both of them, Jess, and duly noted. What do the rest of you think? Does it matter that the two mentioned by Jess were good athletes on not-so-good teams? Do winning seasons dictate who should be listed here? I personally don't think so - just look at Bryce Scanlon. He's a member of the nationally ranked U of U Utes, but in his junior and senior years, I don't believe the Red Devils won, despite Bryce leading the state in defensive statistics in both years, much like where his younger brother Wes appears to be heading. This is exactly why I set up the message board - for YOUR votes and YOUR thoughts as Red Devils fans... ---------- http://www.grouchymark.com

There were so many I left out that I should have put in...Oh well, you know how valid my vote is, I voted for myself. QB: I had a hard time leaving the QB out who threw me the most passes, Tony Madia...it was a hard choice. RB: Ronnie Hutchings was one awesome fullback Te: Matt Peterson is one of the best that played in Evanston Guard: John Porter, pound for pound the toughest on the team...just don't sneeze, you'll knock him over. Tackle: Clint Taylor. LB: How can anyone forget Kelly Guild, do they build them with more character? WR: Nick Radney, that kid had wheels Outside backer: Sam Thornhill could still start for the Red Devils, 25 years later. My two cents. Mel Orchard

Thanks, Dani! Name: Dani Heyrend E-mail: HeyrendHome@hotmail.com Offensive Formation: (Power I, Veer, Full House, etc. - how you would set it up or the offense you're most familiar with or remember best). Please use it in making your selections: Quarterbacks (Starter & Back-Up): Andrew Heyrend Running backs (add up to 3): Mike Fackrell Slot or Flanker: Wide Receivers (Add 2): Tight Ends (Add 2): Center: Offensive Guards (Add 2): Offensive Tackles (Add 2): Punter: Return Specialists (Name 2): Long-Snapper: Defensive Formation: 5-3, 4-4, 4-3, etc.: Defensive Line (Add 3 - 5): Defensive Ends (Add 2): Linebackers (Add 3 - 4): Defensive Backs (Add 3 - 4): Kicker (Kick-Offs): Kicker (Field Goals & PAT's): Coach(es): Coach Smith, Kay Fackrell Anything else you want to add:: I think that the whole 1994 football team did great. Alot of Andy Heyrend's team members were given all state awards, thanks to his talents, as well as theirs. He wasn't given the recognition he deserved. Andy was chosen to play in the shrine bowl of 1995, and started. He had the best record for that season (out of quarter backs)and still did not get the all state recognition. He was also mentioned in USA today....check it out. Hands down best quarter back, I am partial, but check into it. Thanks.

Yo..Mark, Here you go...Is that you in the picture on the web site? I got to recently meet and hang with Jon Gruden, the Bucanners head coach. He was fascinated that I played in high school with one hand. Offensive Formation: Power I Quarterbacks (Starter & Back-Up): Paco Swauger, Greg Crandall Running backs (add up to 3): Ronnie Hutchings, Hazen Atkinson, Paul Pittman Jimmy Selvera Slot or Flanker: Hazen Atkinson Wide Receivers (Add 2): Tight Ends (Add 2): Paul Hutchison (Me, of course: All Conference!) Chris Hutchings (He wasnt too bad either, he just wouldn't keep his mouth shut. I didnt think our 80' conferenced champion team would get out of Thermopolis alive after we sent half their team to the hospital.) Center: Eric Dawson. Offensive Guards (Add 2): Randy George Chris Watts Offensive Tackles (Add 2): Russell "Bubba" Osmond Mikey Paul Punter: Chris Hutchings Return Specialists (Name 2): Hazen Atkinson Long-Snapper: Eric Dawson Defensive Formation: : 3-4 Defensive Line (Add 3 - 5): RUSSEL OSMOND D.T. DAVID WELLING N.G. MIKEY PAUL D.T. BRAD MILLS (I followed behind him on kickoff in 1979., I got 3 tackles that year, knocking over his leftovers.) MARK MATHIS Defensive Ends (Add 2): CHRIS HUTCHINGS D.E PACO SWAUGER D.E., Paul Hutchison (I got a few fumbles in the championship year in 1980.!! Linebackers (Add 3 - 4): KELLY GUILD JOHN COX ERIC DAWSON Defensive Backs (Add 3 - 4): DON LIECHTY HAZEN ATKINSON Paul Pittman Kicker (Kick-Offs): CHRIS HUTCHINGS Kicker (Field Goals & PAT's): CHRIS HUTCHINGS Coach(es): LARRY SANICH RILEY DAWSON STEVE SMITH Anything else you want to add:: I ditto what David Welling said. Not many have almost blanked Star Valley either. I was honored to be mentioned in your message board. I did graduate in 1980 and I am now a transplanted Broncos fan and Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan. Go Red Devils!!!

Having grown up involved in Red Devil football, I felt compelled to give my two cents worth. These are the best that I have seen play. With no disrepect to any team from any year here goes: Quarterback: Tony Madia, Steve Henderson, Pat Petersen, Paco Swauger, Rocky Seale Running backs: Brent Sanders, Rick Guild, Jimmy Selvera, Josh Schofield, Ronnie Hutchings, John Vehar, Mike Fackrell, Pat Fackrell, Danny Peterson Receivers: Hazen Atkinson, Bubba O'Neil, Nick Radney, Erin Henson, Stuart Proffit, Wes Davis Tight Ends: Mel Orchard, Casey Poppinga, Matt Petersen Line: Brad Mills, Bruce Thornock, Tood Griffith, Mike Paul, Eugene Wiley, Chris Watts, Adam Davis, John Porter, merle Lester Punter: Chris Hutchings, Bubba O'Neil, Paul Hendricks, Rocky Seale Kicker: David Peterson, Chris Hutchings, Jimmy Yapias, Rocky Seale Returner: Scott Reis, Hazen Atkinson, Nick Radney, Adam Guild, Danny Peterson Defensive Line: Chris Hutchings, Sam Thornhill, Eddie Buskirk, Louis Horton, Mike Paul, Adam Davis, Jeff Smart, Tim Bettinson, Todd Griffith, Linebackers: Paul Hendricks, kelly Guild, Danny Peterson, All three Poppinga's, Bryce Scanlon, Wes Pratt Defensive Backs: Dale Flashe, Stuart Proffitt, Tanner Davis, Toby Griffith, Scott Touchet, Adam Guild, Jason Pruitt Coach: Phil Petersen, Kay Fackrell, Steve Smith This is strictly in my humble opinion of course. There are many that I have left off that deserves to be on here. Without a doubt, the two overall best REd Devil teams are the 1983 team and the 1985 team. Too close to call on who is better. Each had their strengths. I am proud to have grown up and been a part of such a proud program. I hope the current staff can bring back a little of the magic.

There are a lot of great players named. Obviously the Poppingas are the best to come out of Evanston, Brady being the best of the three. What I can't believe is that not one person named Jeff Honey. He was a defensive threat that no one wanted to be on the receiving end of. Not to mention his all around athletic ability.
